Child & Teen Anxiety Therapy in Centennial, CO
Helping Anxious, High-Achieving, and Overwhelmed Kids Feel More in Control
If your child is struggling with anxiety, overthinking, or emotional overwhelm, you’re not alone.
Maybe your child:
Struggles with ongoing anxiety, constant worry, or frequent “what if” questions
Seems fine at school but falls apart at home
Avoids situations or becomes easily overwhelmed
Gets stuck in perfectionism or fear of mistakes
Has big emotional reactions or shuts down
Many anxious kids work incredibly hard to hold it together during the day. By the time they get home, their nervous system is exhausted, and everything spills out.
The good news: Anxiety is highly treatable, and with the right support, your child can learn to feel more in control, not controlled by anxiety. As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist in Centennial, CO, I specialize in working with children and teens who experience anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and internalized stress.
This includes kids who:
Mask their anxiety in structured environments
Are sensitive, intuitive, and easily overstimulated
Put a lot of pressure on themselves to “get it right”
Struggle with both anxious thoughts and big emotional reactions
My approach is nervous-system-informed, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to how your child uniquely experiences anxiety. This approach is especially helpful for children with ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent profiles who experience anxiety differently.
What Anxiety Therapy Looks Like
Anxiety isn’t just “overthinking,” it’s a nervous system that’s stuck on high alert. I use play therapy and nervous system-informed approaches to help children safely process anxiety and build regulation skills.
Therapy focuses on helping your child:
Understand what’s happening in their body and brain
Safely experience and process anxious feelings
Build the capacity to tolerate uncertainty and distress
Develop regulation skills that work in real-life moments
Using a combination of play therapy, relational support, and nervous system-informed techniques, sessions may include both non-directive and gentle directive work based on your child’s goals and needs. This allows your child to express what they’ve been holding in, practice regulation in real time, and build confidence through lived experience, not just instruction.
In sessions, we’ll gently work together to move toward anxiety, rather than avoiding it, so your child (and their nervous system) learns that even though anxiety is uncomfortable, it isn’t dangerous. Over time, this helps your child feel more confident handling anxiety, rather than avoiding it.
What Makes My Approach Different
Many approaches to anxiety focus only on coping skills or changing thoughts. While those can help, they often don’t address what’s happening underneath. My approach focuses on the nervous system first, so your child learns how to actually regulate anxiety, not just manage it temporarily.
This is especially helpful for kids who:
→ Know the “tools,” but can’t use them in the moment
→ Feel overwhelmed despite trying strategies
→ Experience anxiety alongside meltdowns or shutdowns
This leads to more lasting change, not just short-term relief.
How Therapy Works
Many parents want to know what to expect from therapy. Sessions typically begin weekly or biweekly to build consistency and momentum. Over time, sessions may shift to biweekly or monthly as progress is made. Each session includes:
40 minutes with your child
10-minute parent check-in for guidance and support
You won’t be left out of the process. Parent check-ins are built into sessions so you can:
Understand what’s driving your child’s anxiety
Learn how to respond in ways that support regulation
Feel more confident during difficult moments
You’ll have tools and insight, not just guesswork.
Session Cost: $155 per session. I can provide needed documentation (such as superbills) for out-of-network reimbursement if applicable.
Reduced Rate: Limited spots are available—please reach out to inquire about availability for reduced rates or free counseling options.
