Child & Teen Anxiety Therapy in Centennial, CO
Helping Anxious, High-Achieving, and Overwhelmed Kids Feel More in Control
Is your child constantly worrying, avoiding school, or overwhelmed by everyday situations?
Maybe they:
Ask a lot of “what if” questions
Struggle with transitions or new situations
Get stuck in perfectionism or fear of making mistakes
Seem fine at school, but fall apart at home
Many anxious kids work incredibly hard to hold it together during the day. By the time they get home, their nervous system is exhausted, and everything spills out. As a parent, it can be confusing and exhausting to try to help when you’re not sure what’s really driving the behavior.
The good news: Anxiety is highly treatable with the right support. As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist in Centennial, CO, I specialize in working with children and teens who experience anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and internalized stress.
This includes kids who:
Mask their anxiety in structured environments
Are sensitive, intuitive, and easily overstimulated
Put a lot of pressure on themselves to “get it right”
Struggle with both anxious thoughts and big emotional reactions
My approach is nervous-system-informed, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to how your child uniquely experiences anxiety. This approach is especially helpful for children with ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent profiles who experience anxiety differently.
What Anxiety Therapy Looks Like
Children and teens with anxiety aren’t just “overthinking”—their nervous systems are often in a constant state of alert. I use play therapy and nervous system-informed approaches to help children safely process anxiety and build regulation skills.
Therapy focuses on helping your child:
Understand what’s happening in their body and brain
Safely experience and process anxious feelings
Build the capacity to tolerate uncertainty and distress
Develop regulation skills that work in real-life moments
Using a combination of play therapy, relational support, and Polyvagal Theory-informed techniques, sessions may include both non-directive and gentle directive work based on your child’s goals and needs. This allows your child to:
Express what they’ve been holding in
Practice regulation in real time
Build confidence through lived experience, not just instruction
In sessions, we’ll gently work together to move toward anxiety, rather than avoiding it, so your child (and their nervous system) learns that even though anxiety is uncomfortable, it isn’t dangerous. Over time, their capacity expands, and they become confident in moving through anxiety, panic, and worry.
What Makes My Approach Different
Many approaches to anxiety focus on teaching coping skills or changing thoughts. While those tools can be helpful, they often don’t address what’s happening underneath. My work focuses on the nervous system first. This means your child learns to:
Recognize early signs of anxiety in their body
Stay with uncomfortable feelings without becoming overwhelmed
Build true regulation, not just temporary coping
This is especially effective for children who:
Have tried strategies but still feel overwhelmed
Struggle to “use the tools” in the moment
Experience anxiety alongside emotional outbursts or shutdowns
How Therapy Works

Feel more confident during difficult moments
You’ll have tools and insight, not just guesswork.
