Gender-Affirming Therapy for Transgender & Gender-Expansive Kids and Teens in Centennial, CO

Supporting Your Child’s Identity with Safety, Affirmation, and Care

Your child’s exploration of their gender is not something to fix—it’s part of understanding who they are. If your child is transgender, nonbinary, or questioning their gender identity, therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to explore who they are.

If your child or teen is transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive, or questioning, you may be holding a lot as a parent. You want to support your child in the right way, but it’s not always clear what that looks like. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

As a gender-affirming child and teen therapist in Centennial, CO, I specialize in supporting children and adolescents navigating gender identity alongside anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and internalized stress.

Many of the kids and teens I work with are:

Therapy provides a space where your child can safely explore who they are while also building the emotional tools to navigate the world around them.

What Is Gender-Affirming Therapy?

Gender-affirming therapy is a supportive, non-judgmental approach that centers your child’s lived experience. It does not push toward any specific identity or outcome. Instead, it focuses on curiosity, self-understanding, emotional safety, and supporting your child at their own pace.

In this space, your child is:

  • Respected in their name, pronouns, and self-expression

  • Not pressured to label themselves before they’re ready

  • Supported in exploring thoughts and feelings about gender

  • Given tools to manage anxiety, distress, or dysphoria

  • Encouraged to build confidence and self-trust

For many children and teens, gender exploration is closely connected to anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm. Therapy helps slow things down, creating space for both identity exploration and emotional regulation, so your child doesn’t have to navigate either alone. This helps your child feel more secure in who they are while also building the skills to manage anxiety and emotional overwhelm.

What Sets My Work Apart

I integrate gender-affirming care with a nervous system-informed approach, so we support both your child’s identity and how their body responds to stress and overwhelm.

This is especially helpful for kids and teens who:

  • Experience anxiety, depression, or dysphoria alongside identity exploration

  • Mask parts of themselves in school or social settings

  • Feel pressure to “figure it out” or get it “right”

  • Become overwhelmed, shut down, or reactive

In our work together, your child can:

  • Feel safer and more at home in their body

  • Understand and regulate emotional responses

  • Build resilience in the face of external stress

  • Develop a more grounded and confident sense of self

How Therapy Works

Many parents aren’t sure what to expect from therapy, especially when it comes to gender identity. Sessions are held in-person in Centennial, CO, and typically begin weekly or biweekly to build consistency and trust.

Each session includes:

  • 40 minutes with your child or teen

  • 10-minute caregiver check-in for guidance and support

You are an important part of this process. I support parents in:

  • Understanding their child’s experience more clearly

  • Learning how to respond in affirming and regulating ways

  • Navigating school, family, and social dynamics

  • Feeling more confident in how to support their child

You don’t have to have all the answers—we’ll figure it out together. I also offer collaboration with schools, medical providers, and other professionals when appropriate to ensure coordinated care and advocacy.

Session Cost: $155 per session. I can provide needed documentation (such as superbills) for out-of-network reimbursement if applicable.
