Child & Teen Anxiety Therapy in Littleton, CO
Helping Children and Teens Build Confidence, Regulation, and Emotional Resilience
Is your child constantly worrying, avoiding school, or overwhelmed by everyday challenges? Anxiety in kids and teens is common—but it doesn’t have to take over their lives. With the right support, your child can learn to manage anxiety, build coping skills, and feel more in control of their emotions.
As a certified Synergetic Play Therapist in Littleton, CO, I specialize in anxiety therapy for children and teens, using developmentally appropriate, body-based, and neuroscience-informed approaches that help kids heal from the inside out.
Signs of Anxiety in Kids & Teens
While anxiety is often associated with excessive worry, it can show up in ways that parents may not immediately recognize. Common signs include:
Constant “what if” questions or racing thoughts
School avoidance or academic stress
Panic attacks, which can include symptoms like a racing heart rate, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, etc.
Perfectionism or fear of making mistakes
Irritability, aggression, or frequent meltdowns
Trouble sleeping or recurring nightmares
Physical complaints (headaches, stomachaches, nausea, etc.)
Clinginess or needing frequent reassurance
Hyper-vigilance and difficulty relaxing
If your child is experiencing any of the above, anxiety-focused therapy can help bring relief and build long-term resilience.
What Therapy for Anxiety Looks Like
Children and teens struggling with anxiety often feel like their emotions are too big or overwhelming. My approach focuses on helping kids understand what’s happening in their bodies and brains—and supporting them in processing difficult emotions, re-patterning their nervous systems, and building emotional regulation skills.
Using play therapy and Polyvagal Theory-informed techniques tailored to your child’s age, development, and interests, therapy sessions may include both directive and non-directive work. This allows your child to express feelings safely, practice tolerating distress, and try out new skills in a supportive environment.
Through sessions, your child will:
Understand the root causes of anxiety and panic
Express emotions that may feel overwhelming or confusing
Develop healthy coping skills for stress, frustration, and fear
Increase emotional regulation and confidence
Rebuild self-esteem and feel empowered in their choices
Navigate life transitions (school, friendships, family changes) with more ease
What You Can Expect After Therapy
With consistent support, your child can begin to:
Reduce the intensity and frequency of anxiety or panic
Feel more calm and emotionally regulated
Face school or social situations with increased confidence
Express emotions in healthy, age-appropriate ways
Develop a stronger sense of self and resilience in the face of stress
Imagine your child approaching life with less fear and more confidence. That future is within reach.
How Therapy Works
Sessions generally begin on a weekly or biweekly basis to provide consistent support and structure and are conducted in-person. Over time, as your child progresses, the frequency may decrease to biweekly or monthly sessions. Each session lasts 40 minutes with your child, followed by a 10-minute parent check-in where I share insights from the session, offer strategies for home, and support you in becoming a confident co-regulator. I also provide visual tools, handouts, and resources to use between sessions so therapy progress continues outside the office.
Session Cost: $155 per session
Sliding Scale: Limited spots are available—please reach out to inquire about availability for sliding scale rates or free counseling options.
